Fashion Photographers: Grayson and Jamie Hoffman

Where and/or how are you inspired?

Jamie and I go on walks throughout the city with our cameras. We have a few travel cameras and film cameras that we use to explore, and I find a sense of clarity on these outings. I always return inspired and full of excitement as I go through the images.

APPAREL DESIGN HOUSE- Transforming Fashion Lines into Alluring Brands

How do you integrate creativity with your clients’ brand identities?
Our clients usually have an idea for the shoot, and they hire us to see their vision through and bring their ideas to life. When working with clients, I first ask myself, “Who are these images for?”  Are we shooting a campaign for a juniors’ brand, an anti-wrinkle cream or a hip boutique for people in their 20’s? When I know who the client is trying to reach, I can bring my creativity into the shoot through the use of photographic techniques that enhance the message of the client’s brand.

FashionTV- Interview with Top Fashion Photographer Grayson Hoffman

1. Except the above bio — would you like to add more detail on how you started out?

I always knew I would be a photographer. My first camera was my dad’s all-manual Pentax film camera. After years of working in the darkroom, I switched to digital. I now shoot with the newest medium format system and enjoy challenging the camera to create dramatic and lasting images.

SWIMSUITS DIRECT- SwimTalk with Fashion Photographer Grayson Hoffman

What got you into fashion photography?

I love Photography. As a kid I took all the local courses I could, then earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and went on to work for several years as a newspaper photojournalist. When I had the opportunity to work on a fashion shoot in LA with top photographer Shaun Alexander, I was hooked. Fashion photography was what I wanted to do and the images I wanted to make. Fashion is everywhere and part of everyone’s life and I hope to make images of fashion that last. My wife, Jamie, and I are now a team in Miami working in an industry we truly enjoy.

EXAMINER- Interview with Miami Fashion Photographer Grayson Hoffman

Since this feature is on the photoshoot process from start to finish, please go through the steps of the process for Examiner readers.

Photoshoots are great fun when the key ingredients come together. The first thing we do is get with the client and discuss their vision and ideas. Whether it is a designer looking to shoot their line, a company with a specific concept or a model wanting to update the portfolio – we try to get to know the client and understand what they are looking to achieve. Next, we book the hair, make-up and wardrobe stylists and select the models. Once we have the studio arranged and the team assembled, we take time to plan and prepare for the shoot.

EMILIESOBEL.COM- Meet Grayson Hoffman by Emilie Sobel

1.    First off, tell us a little about yourself, who you are, where you’re from and any other fun facts.

I grew up in Miami, actually, in the Aventura area. My Dad was an actor in the late 80s during the Miami Vice era. When I was in middle school, my family moved to Georgia – where I went to college, got my BFA and met my wife, Jamie. After graduating we moved to South Florida. I played professional golf for a few years and worked as a photo-journalist. Then I turned my attention to commercial, fashion and editorial photography. Now Jamie and I are a full-time photography team. I’m back in Miami and love it.

“Grayson and his wife, Jamie were absolutely terrific to work with and the photos are spectacular! My only problem is there are too many wonderful shots to choose from! I definitely would use them again and would highly recommend them to any fashion brand!

“Creating a photoshoot for a new hair product and then getting the photos into the press is not easy – it takes a lot of experience and TLC.

Luckily, I was able to meet and work with photographer Grayson Hoffman and his wife, Jamie. They are two of the most professional and creative people I have come across in 12 years of working in the Beauty and PR industry here in Miami.

Grayson’s “eye” is right on target, and he has the cameras and equipment to bring your idea to life. And, once you have briefed Grayson and Jamie on your concept, they come alive and make your business story unfold.

They are a magic couple and, again, so professional.

Over the years, I have worked with some of the great Beauty photographers in Europe and America – for Vogue, Harpers, Glamour and many of the trade journals for Hair. I understand this industry, as it is my life and LOVE.

Thank you so much, Grayson and Jamie, for the launch photos for our global story.”

“I had known I was meeting an incredibly talented photographer, but what I did not know is that I would meet a lovely couple that delivered five star customer service from start to finish. Friendly, courteous, prompt when responding and early to our shoot…I was impressed with Grayson and Jaime Hoffman from my first point of contact. When I received my photos, I was positively delighted as they exceed my expectations in every way.”

“Grayson was wonderful to work with. He provided corporate head shots for our office. The office loved him and his wife Jamie, and they did a great job. We could not be happier with how the photos turned out. He worked with three other photographers for our three other office locations and we got complete uniformity throughout the offices with their help. I would highly recommend Grayson for any of your photography needs!”
